# Privacy Policy

Rehearsd ("the app", "we", "us") is developed by Ameer Osman Yousufzia, a UK-based sole trader (not a registered company). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and in plain English.

## What we collect and how we collect it

We collect data directly from you when you use the app, automatically from your device, or from your chosen sign-in provider.

**Account information.** When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email) so we can create and secure your account.

**Voice and speech data.** Rehearsd is a speaking-practice app, so it needs your microphone. When you run a practice session, your speech is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a spoken response and, where relevant, to turn your speech into text. We don't keep raw audio recordings after a session ends.

**Practice activity.** We store details of your practice sessions — scenarios attempted, conversation transcripts, scores/feedback, lesson completions, and any custom scenarios you create — so you can track your progress and pick up where you left off.

**Usage limits.** We keep a record of how many voice sessions you've used each day so we can apply the daily limit fairly.

**Subscription information.** If you subscribe, our payment provider (RevenueCat, via the Apple App Store or Google Play) handles your payment details — we never see or store your card details ourselves. We do store whether you have an active subscription.

**Device and technical data.** Standard technical data needed to run the app, such as a push notification token and internal user IDs, if you enable notifications.

We do **not** use advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not access your photo library, camera, contacts, or location. (Your device may still show a camera or photo permission prompt — this is because a calling component we use is technically capable of video, not because Rehearsd itself ever activates your camera or browses your photos. Rehearsd is audio-only.)

## How we use your information (All uses)

We use the data collected strictly for App Functionality:
- To provide and improve the core app experience (roleplay conversations, scoring, feedback)
- To manage your account and enforce limits
- To process subscriptions and restore purchases
- To send you notifications you've opted into
- To respond if you contact us for support

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

## Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the app:

- **Supabase** – hosts our database and backend, where your account and practice data are stored
- **OpenAI** – processes your speech and generates the AI conversation partner's responses
- **RevenueCat** – manages subscriptions and purchase validation
- **Apple / Google** – provide sign-in and, where used, handle payment processing

These providers only receive the data needed to perform their function, are not permitted to use it for their own purposes, and are obligated to provide the same or equal protection of your user data as stated in this privacy policy.

## Data Retention, Deletion, and Revoking Consent

We retain your account and practice data only for as long as your account is active and you need our services.

You have the right to revoke your consent for data collection and request the deletion of your data at any time. You can do this automatically by deleting your account directly within the app (Settings > Delete Account). 

Alternatively, you can email us at **[email protected]** to request manual data deletion. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems (subject to any basic transaction records we are legally required to keep).

## Your rights

If you're in the UK or EU, under UK/EU GDPR you have the right to:

- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format

## Children

Rehearsd is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

## Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including relying on Supabase's security controls and not storing payment details ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

## Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
